Blinds come in many different styles and materials, but there are two predominant types: roller blinds and panel blinds. Roller blinds usually have a single sheet of material that is rolled around a cylinder for easy operation when opening or closing them; while panel-blinds consist of horizontal or vertical slats held together by cords which are used to open or close them as required. Each has there own place depending on the style and function you want to achieve.

Finding the perfect window covering for your home can be a daunting task. Modern blinds offer simplicity and style with many benefits that may surprise you, including letting in less light than curtains or shades while maintaining an airy look! Most styles are manually operated but there is also motorized function available to give people more control over their space without compromising on any of its modernity.

They come in a huge range of colours so it's easy to find one that suits both your personality and décor needs; whether they're used alone or combined with soft fabric curtain panels. Choosing between traditional horizontal slats as well as vertical stripes will depend on what kind of aesthetic you want them blending into - no matter which type you choose, all models have been designed with visual appeal at the forefront!

Hobart Curtains can help you navigate through the many and varied types of blinds to find the right solution for you. Some of the common choices of blinds include:

  • Vertical blinds
  • Venetian blinds
  • Roman blinds
  • Panel blinds
  • Roller blinds
  • Blackout blinds

Vertical Blinds

Vertical blinds are made up of vertical vanes connected to a track that they slide in. They are very popular for wide windows or glass sliding doors. They are generally fast to operate can be tilted to open and close them to let in the desired amount of light.

Venetian Blinds

Venetian blinds are one of the most common types of window coverings. They have horizontal slats or strips connected by cords or fabric tapes and come in vinyl, metal, timber or PVC materials. They are very easy to operate and using the cords to tilt and adjust the slats in unison.

Roman Blinds

Roman blinds are similar to venetian blinds, however their panels are usually made out of fabric and raised into pleated folds instead of being stacked. Roman shades come in either hard or soft fabrics depending on the quality you desire for your space. They're often referred to as 'shades' because they block sun from coming through windows well. They aren't suited to damp areas like bathrooms or above sinks due to moisture.

Panel Blinds

Panel blinds, often referred to as Panel Glide Blinds are an innovative design using wide vertical panels which slide along a panel track to open and close. They come in a variety of sizes and are particularly suited for sliding doors or large windows, and can also serve well as room dividers. They provide a very contemporary look and are easy to operate.

Roller Blinds

Roller blinds are made up of a single piece of material which is rolled around an aluminium cylinder. They can be pulled up and down on the roller to uncover or cover your window. Roller blinds have stiffened fabric that's adjusted by a hand-wound cord, and some options have a spring mechanism inside for height adjustment. They can also come as double rollers, with one roller blind in front of another with different opacity - the top layer lets light through while the bottom blocks it out completely if desired.

Blockout Blinds

Blockout Blinds, often referred to a blackout blinds, stop the sharp rays of the sun and can also block out 100% of light. They're available in different sizes, colours, and fabrics to fit your home's style and are especially suited to bedrooms and formal rooms where blocking all of the outside light is desirable.
